It's all about how you interpret the verse

All biblical understanding is based on interpretation.

 

Then God said, “Let us make humans^[c] in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth^[d] and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

²⁷ So God created humans^[e] in his image,
    in the image of God he created them;^[f]
    male and female he created them.

Did God create a male and a female? Or did God create one being male and female? I'm not going to tell you which way is right.

I don't care which one you think is right I only care that whatever you believe helps you to live a life of love rather than hate.
