An Introduction (UPDATE)

 

Engaged Buddhism, the Jewish anawim prophetic tradition, and the social gospel line of theology in Christianity all compliment each other.

I am beginning to doubt my intelligence. I have been trying to use every AI that Firefox has in its sidebar to help me right my blog. The trouble is that they want me to write it their way. And if I do that it quits being my blog. From now on I'm gonna have to do it without a large language model. If I can and I'm not sure that I can, I'll even do searches on my own rather than have AI do them for me.

I know the posts won't look near as pretty and they certainly won't read like an academic paper. But they'll be my honest work and my honest opinions. 

• I'm 75 years old.
• Born into a working class family close by the Fraser River in Vancouver BC, Canada.
• I had a traumatic childhood which I managed to hide from myself by creating multiple personalities.
• Over the years I have been a pilot, a cab driver, worked on a green chain in a sawmill, a lighthouse keeper, a pastor in training in Kitamat village, and a pastor in the Philippines.
• In retirement I'm a practicing Buddhist and a steward of our garden temple in the Philippines.
• I try to live my life through Engaged Buddhism
• Over the last two years I have found myself becoming more and more concerned about the evil that artificial intelligence and more precisely large language models are creating in the world we share with all living beings
